WILLIAM MARION BRAHAM AND THE PROPHECY OF MALACHI CHAPTER
FOUR VERSE FIVE AND SIX.
“Behold I will send you Elijah the prophet before the coming
of the great and dreadful day of the Lord and He will turn the heart of the
fathers to the children and the heart of the children to their father least I
come and smite the earth with a curse” (Malachi 4: 5-6)
The Message believers’ an end time ministry whose founder
William Marion Branham passed unto glory in 1965 said he fulfilled the Bible
prophecy of Malachi 4: 5-6. This to me is misleading since there is
overwhelming evidence from the Bible pointing to the fact that this prophecy
was fulfilled by JOHN THE BAPTIST.
Before going into the Bible for the truth about this subject,
we should realize that all scripture is given by inspiration of God (2Timothy
3; 16). No Christian is any stronger than his or her knowledge of the word of
God. No one should give the scripture a private interpretation. Further more
the best and acceptable way of solving Biblical mysteries is by the Bible. God
admonished us in His word that we should not take away or change any aspect of
the Bible to suit our desired objective. (Rev 22: 18-19; Deut 4:2)
Elijah will be sent to prepare God’s people for the coming of
our Lord Jesus Christ. “Elijah” here does not in any way imply a Biblical
support for reincarnation. It is a simple comparison of the Ministry of John
the Baptist with that of Elijah both of whom have identical ministry – that of REPENTANCE,
REDEMPTION AND JUDGMENT. Elijah came before Elisha calling the people of God to
repentance from worship of idols (Baal) and directing them to the Almighty God
John the Baptist also came in the Like manner before Jesus Christ preparing the
people for our Lords coming, warning them of the consequence of refusal to
repent and be saved. John the Baptist
ministered in the spirit and power of Elijah (Luke 1:17) this explains why
Malachi used “Elijah instead of John the Baptist in his prophecy of Malachi 4:
5 & 6.
In Matthew 11:10 Jesus Christ of whom the prophecy was made
confirmed that John the Baptist indeed fulfilled
Malachi 4:5-6. When he said “For this is He for whom it was
written BEHOLD I SEND MY MESSENGER BEFORE THY FACE WHICH SHALL PREPARE THE WAY
BEFORE THEE” After Mathew 11 vs. 10 the people did not understand what Jesus
said, He now told them in plain language in Matthew 11 vs. 14-15. “If you will
receive it, this is Elias which was for to come, He that have ears to hear let
him hear.” There is no further proof or explanation to this prophecy than this
as stated by Jesus Christ Himself.
There is this erroneous school of thought which believe that
a American Minister of God a man of notable signs and wonders, with an equally
incredible healing ministry William
Marion Braham, fulfilled the prophecy of Malachi 4:5-6. This to me is far from
the truth because there is no Bible passage supporting this claim. And for such
an important aspect of God’s time table on humanity not to be mentioned in any
book of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation makes me uncomfortable. This must
be one of the doctrines of men which our Lord frowned at in Mark 7:7. Jesus
said “howbeit in vain do they worship me, teaching for doctrines the
commandment of men”.
William Branham contributed his own quota in the move of God
during his life on earth. As a mortal he had his high points and low points, in
fact he was regarded as the “Father” of the healing revival on earth. Gordon
Lindsay founder of Christ for the Nations Church worked with William Branham
for four years before they parted ways. In his eulogy on Braham, he said “God
may see that a man’s special ministry has reached its fruition and it is time
to take him home. God did just that.
Robert Leadon in his book God’s General has this to say about
him. “Branham had an incredible healing gift. But having less Bible knowledge
to match it, he turned into a DOCTRINAL DISASTER. God had given
Branham a great gift He couldn’t take it back. That gift was misleading people
causing them to follow Braham’s doctrine so God practiced His sovereign right
in 1 Corinthians 5:5 to deliver such a one unto Satan for the destruction of
the flesh, that the spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. Actually
it was an act of mercy on God’s behalf. It is believed that God saved Braham
from Hell”.
William Branham never told anybody that he is the fulfillment
of Malachi 4:5-6. It was his followers who formed a CULT around him and proclaimed him Elijah; the prophet of our time.
He never openly accepted that he is the Elijah of our time until his death, in
December 1965.
God can never be an author of confusion. He choose Israel as
his Children. Romans 8:16. It was only through Israel that God made His mind
known to the world.
They thought us how the world was created by the Almighty
God.
The Jews alone received the Glory of God.
The Jews alone received the Glory of God.
They received the Ten Commandments from God.
They received the covenant.
They received the direction for the Tabernacle warship.
They gave the world the Patriarch, Abraham, Isaac and Israel.
They gave us the prophets.
They gave us John the Baptist to announce the coming of the
Messiah.
They gave us John the Beloved who wrote Revelation of the end
of the world
They finally gave us the Messiah – JESUS CHRIST to redeem and
restore man back to God.
The Almighty God called Israel “My Son” and used them as a
direct link in dealing with mankind. If God had allowed a non Jew outside the
Bible to fulfill this major prophecy a lot of confusion will be introduced into
Christianity.
May God grant us His grace to accept the Biblical truth as it
is given. Amen.
